Trusting God

When we become followers of God, we should trust Him in all areas of our life. Our faith should give us confidence and hope that everything will work together for good.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (Matthew 22:37)

Salvation

The most important way to trust God is to rely on Him for our salvation. We have all done wrong, but God sent his Son to die for us and take our punishment. By asking for forgiveness, and trusting God to save us, we will become the adopted children of God. This is the greatest and most overwhelming promise, and will revolutionise how we think and act.

Righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. (Romans 3:22-25)

Daily life

When we accept God as our Father we can rely on Him to help us in all aspects of our life. We can ask Him to help us and guide us, and be assured that he will do what is best for us

"Have faith in God," Jesus answered. "Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." (Mark 11:22-24)

Choose to be positive

There will be times when what we want is different from what we need, or from what is best for others. Trials and troubles will come, but we must always trust that some good will come from them. We must believe that God in His divine wisdom has a plan for our lives.

We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him ... If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all - how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:28-32)

We may not always be able to choose our situation, but we can always choose our response. Choosing hope and faith will lead to more contentment and optimism in the short term, and will often lead to more positive outcomes in the long term. Regardless of our situation we should trust God and rely on Him, and with Paul say:

I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. (Philippians 4:11-12)

Prayerise, Visualise, Actualise

When we trust God for our salvation and for all aspects of our life it will lead to a positive and optimistic attitude in us. Norman Vincent Peale, a Christian minister, once wrote that in all we do we should Prayerise, Visualise and then Actualise. This means that in every area of our life we should pray to God for help, have faith that He will give us what is best for us, and then diligently work towards what God has promised. We should always remember that:

I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13)
